Ako’y Sa Iyo, Ika’y Akin (Lyrics) – Daniel Padilla

Posted by on May 30, 2012 in OPM | 1 comment

After the release of Daniel Padilla’s Album, fanmade videos made it to youtube and I was surprised that most of the songs are from my generation. One of those that I used to sing along to is Ako’y Sa Iyo, Ika’y Akin by Iaxe, a band who has their fair share of fame in the 90’s.

Here’s the lyrics to the song:

Ikaw na ang may sabi
Na ako’y mahal mo rin
At sinabi mo
Na ang pag-ibig mo’y ‘di magbabago
Ngunit bakit sa tuwing ako’y lumalapit ika’y lumalayo
Puso’y laging nasasaktan pag may kasama kang iba
‘Di ba nila alam
Tayo’y nagsumpaan
Na ako’y sa’yo
At ika’y akin lamang

At kahit ano’ng mangyari
Pag-ibig ko’y sa ‘yo pa rin
At kahit ano pa
Ang sabihin nila’y ikaw pa rin
Ang mahal
Maghihintay ako kahit kailan
Kahit na
Umabot pang ako’y nasa langit na
At kung ‘di ka makita
Makikiusap kay Bathala
Na ika’y hanapin
At sabihin
Ipaalala sa iyo
Ang nakalimutang sumpaan
Na ako’y sa iyo

At ika’y akin lamang

uh…..
Umasa kang
Maghihintay ako kahit kailan
Kahit na
Umabot pang ako’y nasa langit na
At kung ‘di ka makita
Makikiusap kay Bathala
Na ika’y hanapin at sabihin
Ipaalala sa iyo
Ang nakalimutang sumpaan
Na ako’y sa iyo
At ika’y akin lamang

Daniel Padilla – Grow Old With You (Lyrics)

(Daniel Padilla sings Grow Old With You – video courtesy of mychosdotcom)

There are a number of OPM (Original Pilipino Music) songs that I love and would sing whenever I feel like it or when in a karaoke session with friends. Having moved away from the Philippines, I am not really familiar with the new songs anymore but I still enjoy listening to remakes of  my favorite English love songs that I would chance upon Youtube.

Today I was lucky to find a freshly uploaded teaser video of Daniel Padilla, a 17-year-old multi-talented Filipino artist, singing an Adam Sandler original from the movie “The Wedding Singer,” I Want to Grow Old with You.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I think this is his second remake, the first one being “Hinahanap hanap kita” originally sung by one of my favorite 90’s band, Rivermaya.

Daniel did great on this, quite fresh and coming from a 17-year-old you’d feel the sincerity in the words as he sing.  (Would have wanted to see his really expressive eyes behind those shades but still, he’s looking cute as ever.)

Wanna sing along? Lyrics below. ^_^

I Want to Grow Old with You

(written by Adam Sandler and Tim Herlihy, originally performed by Adam Sandler)

I wanna make you smile whenever you’re sad
Carry you around when your arthritis is bad
Oh all I wanna do is grow old with you

I’ll get your medicine when your tummy aches
Build you a fire if the furnace breaks
Oh it could be so nice, growing old with you

I’ll miss you
Kiss you
Give you my coat when you are cold

Need you
Feed you
Even let ya hold the remote control

(So let me do the dishes in our kitchen sink
Put you to bed when you’ve had too much to drink)
I could be the man who grows old with you
I wanna grow old with you

Daniel Padilla I want to grow old with you

Padilla, who speaks like his uncle, actor Robin Padilla, has a very different and pleasant singing voice (good looks not surprising). He is the son of actor Rommel Padilla with actress Karla Estrada.

Steven Tyler already crowned Jessica Sanchez as American Idol winner

Jessica Sanchez

We’ve seen her being saved from being voted off the show, we’ve seen how strong of a contender she is and we’ve been swept away, crying at every song she sang the previous shows…but tonight, American Idol judge Steven Tyler went ahead a week earlier and said that he believes Jessica Sanchez will take home the much coveted AI win.

That’s not to say that Phillip Phillips and Joshua Ledet were not good in their performances, standing ovations would prove that they stood their ground and it was a tough battle for all three of them.

Phillip Phillips was phenomenal with his performance of Bob Seger’s We’ve Got Tonight. “That was the perfect song at the perfect time and your best performance on the show ever. This boy right here is in it to win it and he’s ready,” Jackson said.

“There are about 20 million girls out there who wish you were singing that song to them,” Lopez said.

Phillips also sung Matchbox Twenty’s “Disease” and “Beggin'” by Madcom.

Joshua Ledet sang Etta James’ “I’d Rather Go Blind”, Mary J. Blige’s “No More Drama”, and John Lennon’s “Imagine” but had to bid goodbye as  this  failed to earn him the most numbers of audience votes.

Tyler told the singer: “‘Out of 70,000, there’s only one American Idol. And you sang like that one tonight.”

Jessica sang Mariah Carey’s My All, chosen by the judging panel. Afterwards, Steven Tyler told her, as if predicting: ‘I think, in a way, you will be the last one standing.’

Jessica bravely chose Aerosmith’s ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’ and sing it in front of the band’s frontman, Tyler himself.

Let’s see who gets the big applause next week! 🙂
