Asterisk*

By on July 25, 2011

Hubby and I both like the way Japanese people sings…none a care – so we say. They are so carefree when singing and because it’s the way of their life, I think they totally enjoy singing more than any other group of people in the world. Hello Karaoke!

I remember the hubby finding a non-functioning Ipod some years ago. Techie him fixed it, pimped it and downloaded songs, mostly anime opening and ending songs the kids and us are all familiar with. The Ipod is still here with us with the same songs save for some addition of Michael Jackson’s that the kids like.

So for today I’m sharing Bleach’s first opening song Asterisk* by Orange Range. Hubby used it as background music for the video he made of the Aninite, a Cosplay we attended last year.

Video and editing by hubby.

Drei Chinesen mit dem Kontrabass

By on July 20, 2011

Whenever I see this photo I am reminded of a nonsensical German song the kids often sing…

The first stanza is sung in correct German:

Drei Chinesen mit dem Kontrabass
saßen auf der Straße und erzählten sich was.
Da kam die Polizei, ei was ist denn das?
Drei Chinesen mit dem Kontrabass.

In English, it goes like this:

Three Chinese with a double bass
Sat on the street and chatted something.
Along came the police: ‘Now what is this?‘
Three Chinese with a double bass.

My daughter plays this short piece in piano and the boys would sing along playfully. After this the lyrics are changed with all vowels to a, then to e, i, o and u which makes it really fun.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Theme Music

Tim Burton alright. You’d definitely have that “dark,” mysterious, uneasy feeling hearing this as you would watching his movies. The music score was written by Danny Elfman, often working closely with Burton.

Tifa’s theme (Final Fantasy VII)

By on July 10, 2011

Aside from video games themselves, I like the themes that goes with the movies, the action sequence or simply the character introduction.

This is the piano version of Tifa’s theme. Tifa Lockhart is a member of the terrorist group AVALANCHE and owner of the 7th Heaven bar, Tifa is the childhood friend of Cloud Strife, the protagonist of Final Fantasy VII. Convincing him to join the group to keep him close and safe, she later assists him in saving the planet from the game’s villain, Sephiroth. She is hailed as a strong, independent and attractive female character as Lara Croft is in the world of video games.

Street Performances

At the Shopping District

By on July 7, 2011

Where’s the best place to display your talent but at the streets frequented by tourists. Vienna truly lives up to the name Music capital having performances such as this aside from concerts, operas and other music-related activities. Go to a street and you’ll find someone playing a flute, you’ll meet a student carrying his instrument or perhaps meet a Japanese conductor sometime (happens to me so often).

I think I recorded a bit of the group’s perfomance, I just need to look for it. I can only identify a double bass, a violin and I’m not sure if that’s a flute…what other instrument can you see? 😉

Terrified – Katharine McPhee featuring Zachary Levi

By on July 5, 2011

Yes, I couldn’t get enough of Zach’s singing voice. In April 2010, Katharine McPhee released a preview of a music video to cinemas for her single “Terrified“. Zachary Levi duets with her on the song, actually re-recorded; the original album version features Jason Reeves. Levi appears in the music video singing with McPhee. On May 3, 2010, the song was previewed on Entertainment Weekly’s website and was made available for purchase on iTunes. The full video premiered on May, 7th, 2010 on the music video website Vevo. (Wiki)

I could listen to this whole day long…or look at him all day long:

This is the theme from the movie Tangled, a spin-off of the Brothers Grimms’ Rapunzel. The song was sung by Zachary Levi and Mandy Moore who also voiced the lead characters, Flynn and Rapunzel respectively. This song was also nominated at the Oscar’s last year for Best song.
